Some sites haven't forgotten original meaning of Christmas

Site-seeing with Jan Perry

It is easy to forget that Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ, but these sites remind us:

  • http://www.njwebworks.net/christmas. This site features a select list of links in addition to its own collection of Christmas pages.

  • http://www.christeen.net/christmas/winter.html. The home page is a winter scene with links to more than 50 family-friendly sites hidden throughout the picture. I visited more than half of the linked sites. Four failed my attempts to open them; one was somewhat disappointing; otherwise, it was an extremely satisfying experience.

  • http://www.geocities.com/~perkinshome/chri stmas.html. The Perkins family wants its site to appeal to all ages, refocusing attention on the birth of Christ while incorporating all the familiar symbols.

  • http://www.gospelcom.net/bttb/christmas/12home.h tml. ''Back to the Bible'' presents ''The 12 Voices of Christmas,'' by Dr. Woodrow Kroll. This Internet drama uses both RealAudio and artwork; a modem speed of 28.8 or faster is recommended.

  • http://members.tripod.com/ron246/Page3.htm. A poem for anyone struggling with the recent loss of a loved one.

  • http://www.megastories.com/xmas/index.htm. A true look at Christmastime in Bethlehem, with an interactive map.

  • http://techdirect.com/christmas. This site searches for the meaning of Christmas in stories, poems and traditions.

  • http://members.carol.net/~ asmsmsks/xristma s.htm. This site carries some unusual reminders about the symbolism of the holiday. Especially interesting: the legend of the candy cane.
