A license to surf: Web offers a bounty of James Bond sites

Site-seeing with Jan Perry

The world may not be enough for the man with the license to kill, but even Bond - James Bond - would be hard-pressed to want more than the World Wide Web has to offer.

http://www.jamesbond.com. This site is as slick as the secret agent himself. Miss Moneypenny's Rolodex contains lots of video clips; there's an online adventure that enters you for great prizes - and, if you appreciate those opening credits from the movies, you'll love the sign-on screen here. (If you don't have Shockwave, it's available on-site. Load it for free; then just sit back and enjoy.)

http://www.geocities.com/H ollywood/Bungalow/8436. Bond girls, bad boys, expensive cars, great gear and Q's infamous gadgets - they don't call this site Information Central for nothing.

http://www.users.nac. net/delliott/007. Among other things, this collection contains the original recipe for the perfect martini as revealed in Ian Fleming's first Bond book, ''Casino Royale'' - shaken, not stirred, of course.

http://www.ianfleming.org. This is the Web magazine of the Ian Fleming Foundation, and it is far more than a fan site. Most interesting are the articles on Fleming collected from throughout the world. Make a purchase in the store and you can add a limited-edition phone card to your collection.

http://www.mcs.net/(TILDE)kla st/www/bond.html. This one may not be as flashy or graphically pleasing as some sites, but is offers a ton of interesting information. Meet Desmond Llewelyn, who plays Q; listen to various Bond themes; and find out how to create Bond's impeccably groomed hairstyle.

http://jbdiner.zorz.com. Another very clever site - set up in the guise of a diner, complete with waitress and menu. Best on this Bond bill is the ''Faults'' section, where you can read continuity errors, prop inconsistencies, plot flaws and funny flubs from all the Bond flicks.

http:www.fandom. com/jamesbond. Coolest here is the chat setup. Dish the dirt about the dreamy daredevil with Bond fans from all over the world.

http://bonduniverse.com. The Webmaster of this site is looking for a few special agents to create and care for various sections of Bond Universe.

If you are a 007 fan with adesire to help host the ''most complete and comprehensive James Bond Web site anywhere online,'' the mission is yours for the asking.

Jan Perry is a Kentucky writer who grew up reading the Bond books. You can write to her at SiteSeer2K@aol.com .
