Neighbors on the 'Net

Local Web authors who entered The Post's "Share your Web site" promotion have created sites with an impressive array of topics and high level of quality.

The Post was looking for Greater Cincinnati's best home-grown non-commercial Web sites. Each entry has an appealing or useful feature, and we salute the imagination, public service and information displayed in each submission.

The criteria for evaluating the Web page entries were as follows: Local focus. Original content. Imaginative use -- but not over-use -- of graphics, sound or animation. Clear, easy reading and navigation.

Congratulations go to ...

First place: Big Cat's Bengal Fan Page.

This fan page has what many fan pages don't: Original content. The nuts and bolts are here, such as schedules and draft picks, but pluses include current news, analysis, "A Bengal to Remember" and other team history nuggets. It's a clean, attractive page, and we love the leaping tiger at the bottom.

Second place: The Web Site of William T. Taylor Jr.

This attractive site gives you confidence in following William's advice in his Web Builders' Warehouse. Not only does he give you detailed tips for building your own Web page, but he also gives a glimpse of UC, where he's a student.

Third place: Rudy Garns's Home Page.

The NKU professor presents a nice summary for local news, weather and sports. He gives you the option of listening to a little Bach while you browse, and he's made imaginative use of Web resources. Another beautiful site -- well-organized and nice to navigate.

Read more about The Post's winning sites and Web authors here.
