Site-Seeing with Jan Perry
A British bear
named Winnie-the-Pooh has been charming readers of all ages for 75 years. My own affection for
the tubby little cubby began more than four decades ago - so I couldn't resist a column in
honor of Pooh and his pals.
http://www.winniethepoohbear.net. This is not only
stuffed with much more than fluff, it is well designed and very visitor friendly.
http://members
.aol.com/gibchar/Pooh/Pooh.htm. I admit, I like this one because I much prefer the
original (classic) Ernest H. Shepard ''decorations'' to the Disney illustrations. There is a
lot more to this site than first meets the eye. After you hit ''Enter'' on the opening page,
make sure you scroll to the bottom and select ''Site Index'' to discover all the wonderful
offerings. (They have 40 e-cards you can send, and that's just the beginning.)
http://www.shcc.edu.hk/991154. I have a soft spot in my
heart for Pooh's ever-so-sad friend, Eeyore. I'm sure if he ever visited these pages, he'd
cheer right up. Dedicated to the depressed donkey, this site by Stephanie Mui is amazing -
from the beautiful graphics and illustrations she's used to the version of Kenny Loggins'
''House at Pooh Corner.'' Even Eeyore would have to be happy here.
http://www.pooh-haven.f2s.com. This one, redesigned for
autumn by Grace Witjaksono, has a distinct look that matches some of the new Pooh
collectibles. While some areas are under construction, what is here is worth a visit. Songs
include four versions of Pooh's theme, three of ''House at Pooh Corner,'' two of Pooh's
exercise song, and one each of ''Rumbly in my Tummy'' and Tigger's Song. Be sure to read the
(brief) history of what happened to ''Edward,'' why he's now ''Winnie'' with a mention as to
who ''Pooh'' really was.

.uk/pooh. Based at the University of Cambridge, the ''Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh
Society'' is clearly a cubby club with class. (One member is none other than Her Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth of England.) For a slightly grown-up, very British look at the bear we all
love, a visit to this site is a must.
http://www.angelfire.com/nc/heidiu1/tiggerhome.html. Tons of Disney graphics make this Tigger page a bit slow to load for those
with regular modem speeds, but the bright colors (and gently falling ''hunny'' pots make it
worth the wait. There are more e-cards to send here including one with Mickey Mouse.
http://www.poohthebear.com. There are hundreds of good
Pooh sites. This one has links to a lot of the best ones I didn't get a chance to mention.
